Ellasplace Wellness Center Review 2026: Women-Only Gym in Abuja

We’ve visited enough fitness centres in the FCT to know that the majority of gyms are shared spaces. Many women want a place where they can train with other women, and Ellasplace Wellness Center offers that option.

After spending time going through everything the gym has to offer, we’ll be sharing what we found about Ellasplace Wellness Center in this review. Read on to learn the good, the honest, and the things worth knowing before you sign up.

What Ellasplace Wellness Center Actually Is

Ellasplace has been operating since 2016, making it an established women-focused fitness location in Abuja. However, it’s not just a gym. It’s a full wellness centre that combines a ladies’ gym, a spa, and a salon under one roof at 16 Ibrahim Jalo Waziri Street, Abuja.

The gym offers a free tour before you commit to anything, which we appreciate. It says something about a facility when it’s confident enough to let you look around first.

The interior is purple and pink throughout. That’s deliberate, not accidental. The whole space has been designed with women in mind: the colours, the layout, the motivational quotes on the walls, and the upstairs training area. It’s a detail that sounds small but changes how the space feels when you’re in it.

Ellasplace Wellness Center Gym Features

Ellasplace Wellness Center

The gym floor has standard equipment, including treadmills, machines, free weights, plus a dedicated space for group classes. But what defines the Ellasplace experience isn’t really the equipment. It’s the atmosphere.

Every piece of feedback we came across said the same thing: the absence of male presence changes how you train. One member who’s been coming for three months said:

“I love the fact that it’s a women-only gym and the trainers are women. There’s no pressure or anything, and you can train at your own pace.”

Another member simply described it: she feels free and relaxed while exercising. Those two words, free and relaxed, are not words most women use to describe mixed gyms in Nigeria or Abuja specifically. That’s the product Ellasplace is selling, and from our research, it delivers on it.

The Classes

This is where Ellasplace stands out clearly from a standard gym. The class offering is wide and genuinely varied:

  • Dance Class
  • Abs and Butt Workout
  • Yoga
  • Zumba
  • Aerobics
  • Salsa and Ballet
  • High-Intensity Workout
  • Upper Body Workout

That’s a meaningful range. Salsa and ballet, alongside HIIT and abs classes, tell you they’re catering to women who want movement that feels good, not just those who want to lose weight fast. One member specifically said the variety of classes is one of the main reasons she keeps coming back.

The classes are included in the All-Inclusive membership or available as a separate Special Classes plan. If group training is your primary reason for joining, the All-Inclusive plan makes more sense financially than paying for classes separately on top of a gym-only membership. We’ll provide more details on the prices later.

Beyond the Gym

Ellasplace Wellness Saloon

Ellasplace Wellness is where you can train, get a massage, do a facial, and get your hair braided, all without leaving the building. The spa offers facials, massages, body treatments, manicures, and pedicures. Meanwhile, the salon covers hair styling and braiding.

For some women, this is irrelevant. For others, especially those managing busy schedules who struggle to separate wellness time from beauty time, it’s a real convenience. You can book a post-workout massage in the same space where you just trained. In Abuja, traffic is a real factor in how people plan their day, so that kind of consolidation has value.

What We’d Improve

We believe in being direct, so here’s what members flagged.

The schedule doesn’t work for everyone

This came up more than once. One member, a corporate worker, said the class timetable doesn’t always align with a 9-to-5 schedule. You can end up paying for an all-inclusive membership and not using the classes because they’re not running at times that work with your hours.

It’s particularly worth thinking about if your main reason for joining is the classes. Check the current class timetable before signing up, and make sure at least 3 or 4 classes per week fall within your available hours.

Closes at 8 pm

For a city like Abuja where many people don’t leave their offices until after 6 pm, an 8 pm closing time is tight. You’d need to be in by 7 pm at the latest to get a meaningful session in. This isn’t unique to Ellasplace, as many Abuja gyms close at similar times. If we were talking about gyms in Lagos, the case would be different since Eko is much busier.

Who Ellasplace Is Right For

Ellaspace Gym

We’d recommend Ellasplace to:

  • Women in Abuja who find mixed gyms uncomfortable or distracting.
  • Women who want group classes as part of their fitness routine because the class variety here is genuinely great.
  • Anyone looking for a wellness space that combines a gym, spa, and salon.
  • Women who prefer to train at their own pace without pressure from trainers or fellow members.

We’d be more cautious about recommending it to:

  • Women who work late and need a gym that closes after 9 pm.
  • Anyone whose primary motivation for joining is the classes, but who has a rigid work schedule. Check the timetable first.

GymSquare’s Verdict

Ellasplace Wellness Center is a well-thought-out fitness space in Abuja. The women-only environment isn’t a gimmick; it genuinely changes the experience in ways members consistently feel and describe. The class range is wide, the spa and salon add real convenience, and the space itself has been designed with care.

The inflexible schedule and the 8 pm closing time are real drawbacks, not minor issues. But for the right woman in the right situation, Ellasplace is the kind of gym you look forward to going to. And in Nigeria, that’s not a small thing.

Remember that free tours are available, so take one before you decide to register.
