Lagos is the biggest city in Nigeria, and also the most fitness-oriented. If you’re a fitness enthusiast, choosing the right gym plays a big role in your progress. However, your choices often depend more on your neighbourhood and less on your preferences. Of course, your budget matters too.
Gym membership fees in Lagos range from as low as ₦10,000 per month at a local neighbourhood gym to over ₦100,000 per month at premium facilities. That’s a 10x difference in cost, and the gap in what you get is equally dramatic.
I’ve put together this guide by focusing on the most active fitness neighbourhoods in Lagos: Lekki, Victoria Island (VI), Surulere, and Ikeja.
Caveat: Lagos gym pricing isn’t always stable. Inflation and naira depreciation cause several gyms to revise their fees, so always confirm current pricing directly with the gym before signing up.
Lagos Gym Pricing: What to Expect in 2025
Based on my research, here’s what the market looks like in three tiers:
| Tier | Monthly Fee Range | What You Typically Get |
| Budget | ₦10,000 – ₦20,000/month | Basic equipment, no classes, locally-owned |
| Mid-Range | ₦20,000 – ₦35,000/month | Modern equipment, group classes, A/C, trained staff |
| Premium | ₦40,000 – ₦100,000+/month | Luxury amenities, sauna, pool, wellness services, PT included |
The neighbourhood you’re in will push you toward a particular tier almost automatically. For instance, Lekki and VI gyms are mostly mid-range to premium. Meanwhile, Surulere and Ikeja have more budget options.
Best Gyms in Lekki
Lekki is Lagos’s fastest-growing residential and commercial area. It’s also one of the most gym-dense areas in the city, with boutique fitness studios to full-service chains. If you live anywhere between Lekki Phase 1 and Chevron, you’re never far from a gym. Let’s see the best gyms in Lagos for this region:
1. Pure Fitness Africa — Lekki Phase 1

Pure Fitness Africa was founded by Ekemini Ekerette (known as KemenFitness) to make quality fitness more accessible to more Nigerians. I visited the Ikota branch, which sits in the Lekki corridor. For the price, it punches above its weight.
| Founded By | Ekemini Ekerette (KemenFitness) |
| Location | Ikota, Lekki, Lagos |
| Monthly Fee | From approx. ₦7,000 Day Pass |
| Classes | Yoga, step aerobics, tabata, cycling, dance aerobics, and more |
| Extras | Spinning studio, cardio floor, showers, and lockers |
✔ What Works
- Very affordable for its location: Getting a decent gym experience in the Lekki axis at less than ₦10,000 isn’t easy. Pure Fitness Africa makes it possible.
- Good range of equipment: The gym floor is well-stocked with a dedicated spinning studio and a cardio section that helps in losing weight. I found what I needed without searching for it.
- The classes have energy: Yoga, dance aerobics, cycling, tabata, and step aerobics. The variety is genuine, and the instructors bring the sessions to life.
- Staff are easy to deal with: You have a friendly front desk and attentive coaches who don’t ignore members.
✖ What to Know Before You Go
- The AC isn’t always reliable: On a hot Lekki day, this is something you’ll notice.
- Some equipment needs attention: Not everything is in top condition. Most things work, but a few pieces are worn.
- Class availability depends on the timetable: Check before committing if classes are your main reason for joining.
My Verdict on Pure Fitness Africa Lekki
Pure Fitness Africa Ikota is one of the best value gyms in Lagos. The price is hard to argue with, the classes are good, and the staff makes the place easy to return to. Sort out the AC and keep the equipment in better shape, and there would be very little to complain about.
2. iFitness Lekki Phase 1

I believe iFitness Lekki needs no introduction. It’s a functional gym that covers the basics well enough. I’ve trained there, and the equipment is available, the floor has space, and there are group classes running through the week. This gym does the job for most people.
| Location | Lekki, Lagos |
| Monthly Fee | ₦42,875 |
| New Member Fee | ₦74,562 (includes registration and first month) |
| Classes | Taebo (Mondays), Pilates (Thursdays) |
| Locker Room | Available but small |
✔ What Works
- The group classes are popular for a reason: The Monday Taebo and Thursday Pilates evening classes are well-attended and well-run. If group training is what keeps you consistent, these sessions are worth showing up for.
- The equipment covers what you need: Nothing exotic, but the basics are there. You can get a proper session in without running into dead ends.
- Renowned name: iFitness is a known brand with multiple branches, so the standard is consistent.
✖ What to Know Before You Go
- The gym culture can be distracting. If you’re there to train, be prepared to block out the noise. There are always a few people who are more focused on being seen than on working out. Also, cameras come out often. If that kind of environment puts you off, go during off-peak hours when it’s quieter.
My Verdict on iFitness Lekki
iFitness Lekki is a decent gym if you go with the right mindset: focus on your workout and ignore everything else. The classes are a genuine plus, the equipment works, and the location is convenient for Lekki residents. The price is on the higher side, but it’s a recognised name, and that counts for something.
3. SweatBox Lekki

SweatBox runs on an open box gym setup. It’s a wide, warehouse-style space with large fans spread across the floor and some AC sections. I went in thinking the open design would be a problem. By the second visit, I had stopped noticing it.
| Location | Lekki, Lagos (one branch) |
| Monthly | ₦163,900 – ₦272,910 |
| Quarterly | ₦589,600 |
| Setup | Box gym — open space with fans and AC sections |
| Vibe | Community-focused, welcoming |
✔ What Works
- The trainers are serious about their work: They pay attention to what you’re doing, correct your form, and push you when you need it. The instruction quality is high.
- The community makes it easy to stay consistent: The members and coaches have a warmth to them that’sn’t common in Lagos gyms. It feels less like a transactional gym and more like a place people genuinely belong to.
- Equipment is in good condition: Everything I needed was available and working.
✖ What to Know Before You Go
- The open gym setup isn’t for everyone: If a fully enclosed, fully air-conditioned space is what you need to feel comfortable, this will take some getting used to. The fans and AC sections manage the heat, but it’s still a different environment from a standard gym.
- The price is high: ₦163,900 per month at the entry level puts it out of reach for a lot of people. You’re paying for the environment, the community, and the quality of instruction.
My Verdict on SweatBox Lekki
SweatBox is one of the better gyms in Lagos if you can afford it. The open space setup that puts most people off is actually one of the things that makes it different. Plus, there are good trainers, a clean facility, and a tight community. If the price fits your budget, it’s hard to find a reason not to join.

Best Gyms in Victoria Island (VI)
VI is Lagos’s central business district and one of its wealthiest neighbourhoods. So, I observed that gyms here cater largely to corporate professionals, hotel guests, and high-income residents.
The result is that even the mid-range options in VI would be considered premium elsewhere. If budget is your primary concern, you may struggle to find a location. Nevertheless, these are the best gyms in Lagos here:
1. The Fitness Factory Victoria Island

Fitness Factory isn’t just a gym; it’s a full lifestyle space. Over 700 square metres of gym floor, Hammer Strength and Life Fitness machines, an in-house café, barbershop, spa, and sauna, all in one building on Victoria Island. I visited, and the setup is impressive.
| Location | Victoria Island, Lagos |
| Monthly | ₦75,000 |
| Gym Space | 700+ square metres |
| Equipment | Hammer Strength and Life Fitness machines |
| Classes | HIIT, strength training, cardio, personal training |
| Extras | Café (Toasties), spa, sauna, barbershop (Rebound Salon), manicure, showers, and lockers |
✔ What Works
- Premium equipment: Hammer Strength and Life Fitness are top-tier brands. The machines are well-maintained and perform well.
- Never overcrowded: The space is large enough that even on a busy day, you’re not competing for equipment or floor space.
- Everything is in one place: You can eat at the café, get a haircut, and use the sauna, all without leaving the building. For people with busy schedules, that convenience is worth something.
✖ What to Know Before You Go
- The price is premium: ₦75,000 per month is at the top end of Lagos gym pricing. It makes sense if you’re going to use the full facility. If you’re only coming to lift weights and leave, there are solid gyms in Lagos at half this price.
My Verdict on Fitness Factory VI
Fitness Factory is one of the best-equipped gyms in Lagos. The space is large, the machines are quality, and the extras make it more than just a gym. The ₦75,000 monthly fee is the only real barrier. If it fits your budget and you’ll use everything it offers, it’s worth every naira.
2. EliteBox Fitness Victoria Island

EliteBox is Lagos’s first and only boutique boxing gym, located on the first floor of Ibukun House on Adetokunbo Ademola Street, Victoria Island. That’s directly opposite the Eko Hotel. It’s a very specific gym. If boxing is what you’re there for, you’ll enjoy it. However, if you want general gym equipment, I think this may not be the place.
| Location | 1st Floor, Ibukun House, Adetokunbo Ademola St, VI (opposite Eko Hotel) |
| Specialty | Boxing, self-defence, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Sundays) |
| Who It’s For | Beginners, fitness boxers, competitive boxers, kids |
✔ What Works
- The coaches are good: They’ll work you hard, and they know exactly what they’re doing.
- Saturday sparring is worth it: The weekly sparring session is well-run and draws a good crowd. That’s good energy.
- Open to all levels: Beginners, white-collar boxers, and serious competitors are all welcome. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on Sundays adds another dimension for people who want more than boxing.
✖ What to Know Before You Go
- It’s a boxing gym first: The focus isn’t exactly on treadmills or weight machines. If that’s what you need, look elsewhere.
My Verdict on EliteBox VI
If boxing is your goal, EliteBox is the best place in Lagos for it. The coaching is serious, the environment is clean, and the Saturday sparring sessions alone make it worth considering. Just know what you’re signing up for before you go.
3. Skyfit Lagos Victoria Island

Skyfit’s on the 4th floor of Lagos Oriental Hotel on Lekki-Epe Expressway, Victoria Island. The location alone sets a tone, as you have good security, hotel parking, and a view of Lagos from the gym floor.
From my observations, many expats and high-income professionals come here. Therefore, it’s a highly exclusive gym, and the pricing confirms that.
| Location | 4th Floor, Lagos Oriental Hotel, 3 Lekki-Epe Expressway, Victoria Island |
| Monthly | ₦150,268 |
| 10-Day Access | ₦85,638 |
| 7-Day Access | ₦64,006 |
| Annual | ₦860,000 |
| Classes | Spinning, yoga, boxing, Tabata, and more |
✔ What Works
- The most equipped gym in Lagos: This is the general consensus among people who train here, and I agree with it. The equipment is complete, well-maintained, and there’s enough variety to support any training style.
- Never overcrowded: The exclusive pricing keeps numbers low. Therefore, you can train without fighting for machines or floor space.
- Good for leg day: The range of lower-body equipment is particularly strong. If legs are a focus, this is one of the better places in Lagos for it.
- Extra features: Hotel security, parking, and the entire environment add to the experience in a way that standalone gyms don’t offer.
✖ What to Know Before You Go
- Weights are sometimes left scattered: Some members leave dumbbells and plates all over the floor, and the staff doesn’t enforce rack discipline. For a gym at this price point, that’s a problem.
- The café is unreliable: The in-house café rarely has most of what’s on the menu, and it’s closed for long stretches. Don’t plan your post-workout meal around it.
- The price is very high: ₦150,268 per month puts this among the most expensive gyms in Nigeria.
My Verdict Skyfit VI
Skyfit’s the best-equipped gym in Lagos. The hotel setting, equipment quality, and low crowd levels make it a good option for anyone who can afford it. The scattered weights and unreliable café are frustrating for what you’re paying, but they don’t cancel out the standard.
4. Beyond Fitness Victoria Island

I haven’t trained at Beyond Fitness myself. The pricing made that decision for me before I got to the door. But I’ve spoken to people who train there, and what they describe is a gym operating at a genuinely high standard. The sessions are intense, organisation is tight, and attention to detail goes beyond what most Lagos gyms bother with.
| Quarterly | ₦345,000 – ₦684,000 (8x to 24x sessions per month) |
| Annual | ₦2,760,000 |
| Classes | Group fitness (Lift and others) |
| Session | Approx. 45 minutes per class |
| Extras | Smoothie bar, fresh juices, wheelchair accessible entrance |
✔ What Works
- The classes are well-run and intense: Sessions start on time, coaches are focused, and you’ll work. No standing around.
- The attention to detail is real: On a rainy day, staff were directing parking and handing out umbrellas at the entrance. That level of service isn’t common in Lagos.
- Clean, well-air-conditioned facility: The environment is consistently maintained at a high level.
- Smoothie bar and fresh juices available: These come at a cost, but they add to the overall experience.
✖ What to Know Before You Go
- The price is out of reach for most Lagosians: ₦345,000 per quarter for the entry plan, which is ₦115,000 per month. The annual plan is ₦2.76 million.
My Verdict on Beyond Fitness VI
Beyond Fitness is clearly operating at a very high level. The standard is there, but the access isn’t, for most people. If the price isn’t a barrier, you’re unlikely to be disappointed. For everyone else, it’s a gym to respect from a distance.
Best Gyms in Surulere
Surulere is on the Lagos mainland, and it draws a lot of attention in terms of fitness culture. Based on my findings, the neighbourhood has serious training environments at prices that don’t require an island salary.
Granted, you won’t see some of the best gyms in Lagos, like in places like Lekki and Victoria Island. However, the facilities are still worthwhile. These are my top rankings in Surulere:
1. Fitness Options Surulere

Fitness Options is an accessible gym on the Lagos mainland, sitting right in the heart of Aguda, Surulere. It’s straightforward with no luxury extras or inflated pricing. Just a functional space with decent equipment and trainers who show up ready to work. For Surulere residents, it’s a reliable option close to home.
| Location | 18 Ahmed Jimoh Close, off Ekolou Street, Aguda, Surulere |
| Monthly | From approx. ₦15,000 (confirm current rate directly) |
| Rooms | Strength room, cardio room, dedicated treadmill, and cycling room |
| Classes | Cardio, dance classes, Tabata, and other group sessions on rotation |
✔ What Works
- Good value for the price: The equipment is moderate but adequate, and the pricing is reasonable for what you get.
- Trainers are present and helpful: There are coaches on the floor daily who are easy to approach and willing to guide you through your workout.
- The class variety works. Different group sessions on different days (dance classes, Tabata, cardio) give members options beyond just solo training.
✖ What to Know Before You Go
- The space is relatively small. The gym is split across separate rooms rather than one large open floor. During peak hours, the individual rooms can feel tight.
- Equipment is adequate but not extensive: If you need a wide variety of machines, you may occasionally find that what you want is occupied or not available.
My Verdict on Fitness Options Surulere
I can describe Fitness Options Surulere as a solid community gym. It’s clean, with functional space, helpful trainers, and fair pricing. For Surulere residents who want a gym close by that gets the job done, this is a good recommendation.
2. iFitness Surulere

This gym sits opposite Shoprite Leisure Mall on Adeniran Ogunsanya Street. As such, it’s easy to find. It runs on the same equipment and class standards as other iFitness branches. So, if you have trained at any iFitness before, you know what to expect here. The main thing that sets this branch apart is the crowd, particularly in the evenings.
| Location | Eagles Club, opp. Shoprite Leisure Mall, Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere |
| Monthly | ₦42,875 |
| Joining Fee | ₦31,687 |
| Classes | 40+ group classes |
✔ What Works
- 40+ group classes included in membership: HIIT, Taebo, Tabata, Core Cardio — the class variety is solid and all included at no extra cost.
- Consistent equipment standard: iFitness maintains equipment quality across branches. You’ll find what you need here.
- Good location: The gym being opposite Shoprite Leisure Mall makes it convenient to reach from most parts of Surulere.
✖ What to Know Before You Go
- Very crowded on weekday evenings: I noticed that Monday to Friday, between 4 pm and 8 pm, the gym fills up. If you cannot stand training in a packed gym, avoid those hours.
- The best time to go is 10 am to 1 pm: The gym is quiet during this window. You’ll find free equipment as the floor isn’t crowded.
My Verdict on iFitness Surulere
This gym is a reliable mainland option at a price that makes sense. The equipment is the standard iFitness setup, the classes are good, and the location is convenient. The only thing to plan around is the evening crowd. Go between 10 am and 1 pm, and you’ll have a much better time.
Best Gyms in Ikeja
As Lagos’s administrative capital, Ikeja is a major commercial hub. The GRA area in particular has a concentration of mid-range to premium gyms serving the professional class that lives and works there. It’s also well-served by iFitness, which has multiple branches in the axis, including GRA, Opebi, Magodo, Ogba, and Gbagada.
1. Frebson Fitness Gym Isolo/Ikeja

Here’s a popular community gym in Ire-Akari Estate, Isolo. It’s not trying to compete with the island gyms. Instead, Frebson is a neighbourhood gym with a friendly atmosphere, moderate equipment, and pricing that makes sense for where it’s located.
| Location | 40 Ire-Akari Estate Road, Isolo, Lagos |
| Registration | ₦15,000 |
| Monthly | ₦20,000 |
| Equipment | Moderate for strength training and standard gym machines |
| Outdoor | Neat green outdoor area available |
| AC | Multiple air conditioning units |
| Classes | Group classes, strength training, personalised workout plans |
✔ What Works
- Affordable pricing for the mainland: I believe ₦20,000 per month is affordable for a gym with AC and group classes in Lagos.
- The outdoor green area is a good addition: A neat outdoor space for cardio and group sessions makes the gym feel more open than most Lagos gyms of this size.
- Multiple AC units: The gym is properly air-conditioned, which matters a lot during the Lagos heat.
- Friendly community atmosphere. Frebson is known for its welcoming environment. It’s the kind of gym where people know each other and the trainers know your name.
✖ What to Know Before You Go
- Equipment is moderate, not extensive. The gym covers the basics well, but if you need a wide variety of specialist machines, you may find the options limited.
- It’s a smaller, neighbourhood gym: Keep your expectations in check and don’t anticipate a large-scale facility.
My Verdict on Frebson Fitness Ikeja
If you’re in Isolo or Ajao, Frebson is a gym to check out. The price is fair, the outdoor space is a nice feature, and the friendly atmosphere makes it easy to stay consistent.
2. iFitness Ikeja GRA / Opebi / Magodo

iFitness has three branches in the Ikeja axis, in ACME, GRA, and Opebi. So, the brand gives residents multiple choices depending on where they’re coming from. I visited the ACME branch, which is one of the earliest iFitness locations. It’s functional for the standard iFitness feel, even if it does not carry some of the design upgrades that newer branches have.
| ACME Address | Plot 7, off ACME Road, opp. LASACO Assurance |
| GRA Address | 8A, NACCIMA Building, Oba Akinjobi Way, Ikeja GRA |
| Opebi Address | 77, Opebi Road, opp. Union Homes |
| Classes | 40+ group classes included in membership |
✔ What Works
- Three branches in one axis: Having ACME, GRA, and Opebi within Ikeja means you can pick the one closest to you or your route. Membership at one iFitness branch gives you access to all locations.
- 40+ group classes included: The full iFitness class timetable (HIIT, Taebo, Tabata, Core Cardio, and more) is available in all three branches at no extra charge.
- Consistent equipment standard: The iFitness equipment setup is reliable across branches. ACME carries the same core machines, even if the layout is older.
✖ What to Know Before You Go
- Light and water issues at ACME occasionally: Power and water supply can be inconsistent at the ACME branch. This is partly down to Nigeria’s general electricity situation, but it’s worth knowing before you go.
- GRA could use an upgrade too: The GRA branch is decent but not the freshest iFitness facility on the mainland.
My Verdict on iFitness Ikeja
For most Ikeja residents, at least one of ACME, GRA, or Opebi is convenient to reach. The ACME branch is the most basic of the three, in my opinion. Although it works, GRA or Opebi might give you a slightly better experience. The class variety and cross-branch access remain the top reasons to join.
Conclusion – Guide on How to Choose the Right Gym for You in Lagos
There’s no universal take on the best gums in Lagos. I believe the city is too big for that. However, a few factors matter across all four neighbourhoods, including:
| Location | A ₦50,000/month gym you can walk to will serve you better than a ₦20,000/month gym stuck on the other side of Third Mainland Bridge. |
| Current pricing | The naira-dollar rate makes multiple gyms change prices regularly. Every figure in this guide is a verified starting point, not a guarantee. |
| Peak hours | Most Lagos gyms are seriously congested between 7–9 am and 6–8 pm. If you can train off-peak, your progress at any gym improves significantly |
| Long-term discounts | Quarterly and annual memberships typically offer 15–30% savings versus month-to-month at most Lagos gyms. If you’re committed, ask for the annual rate upfront. |
| Consistency | A ₦15,000/month gym you train in five days a week will produce better results than a ₦70,000/month gym you visit twice. |
