In Uyo, the gym situation isn’t the same as in most other cities in Nigeria. We say so because most of the best ones are located in hotels. The hospitality sector in the area has been properly developed because the Akwa Ibom State government has made heavy investments in it. And, as a result, the fitness facilities available in the hotels compare with or exceed those of independent gyms. The following is a list of the best gyms in Uyo for 2026, based on our tests:
1. MetroFlex Gym (Best Overall) — 9.5/10
66 Enwe Street, near Nteps Supermarket, Oron Road, Uyo

MetroFlex is the best gym in Uyo by a clear distance. It functions primarily as a gym rather than as a hotel facility, and that focus shows. The yellow and black branding is distinctive; the space is compact but intelligently laid out so it never feels crowded. Plus, the early 2026 renovation has the whole place looking fresh.
We confirmed that MetroFlex Gym Uyo has modern equipment, good maintenance, and trainers who actually know what they’re doing. The lighting is some of the best of any gym in the city. Content creators specifically come here for it. Not to mention, there are wall motivations throughout, including our favorite: ‘a bad day can be made better by going to the gym.’
2. City De Fitness — 8.5/10
78 Bennet, B G Bassey Dr, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo
When we saw the black and red aesthetics of this gym, we thought that’s the closest thing Uyo has to iFitness branding. For the record, iFitness has many gyms in Nigeria, but it hasn’t reached Uyo yet. Anyway, City De Fitness is independent, not affiliated with iFitness at all, and is one of the best gyms in Uyo.
This facility boasts a dedicated cardio space and good equipment throughout. Their slogan is ‘Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit’ — out of nothing, nothing comes. That’s just telling you to do something in the gym to see something (results).
At City De Fitness, you pay ₦2,000 daily and ₦20,000 monthly, which we consider genuinely affordable for the level of facility. Group membership plans are available too.
3. Aiku Luxury Gym — 8.0/10
Ring Rd 3, Uyo

This gym is inside Aiku Luxury Hotels, so the standard was never going to be low. You get white aesthetics, good lighting, and proper air conditioning. The space is small, which, for us, is the main caveat. But within that space, they’ve packed a solid dumbbell range, weights, three treadmills, and at least three stations.
The trainers are good. At ₦5,000 per day, it’s on the expensive side for a daily gym membership pass in Uyo. However, this is a hotel gym, so that’s the pricing model.
4. Kiniz Fitness — 7.5/10
20 Basumoh Gas Road, Uyo (Kiniz Luxury Apartments & Hotels)
Kiniz is a luxury apartment hotel near Ibom Plaza with an outdoor pool and full hotel amenities. The fitness facility is part of that broader offering.
A minimum of four treadmills is available in this gym, plus plenty of bikes. There are dumbbells and weights, too, a station machine for different kinds of workouts, plus a squat rack. From what we can tell, the basics needed for a proper session are present.
5. A&A Cardio Studio — 7.5/10
General Edet Akpan Ave, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo

The name tells you exactly what you’re getting. We’ll still say it: this is a cardio space for staying fit and weight loss. It has boards, light equipment, enough room to move, and 1–2kg dumbbells for conditioning work. If you’re looking to squat heavy or bench press, this may not be the best gym in Uyo for you.
However, if you want dedicated cardio training, group sessions, or a low-intensity fitness environment, A&A does that specifically and well. It’s a niche offering in a market where most gyms try to be everything to everyone. Sometimes specializing is the smarter move.
6. Monty Suites Gym — 7.0/10
37 General Edet Akpan Ave, Uyo
A hotel gym inside the popular Monty Suites Hotels. Comes better stocked than we expected from a hotel of this size. That’s because of the plenty of dumbbell weights, plates, and about two machines.
The space is tighter than it looks from the lobby. But the equipment density is higher than your average hotel gym where three treadmills and a medicine ball are considered a full facility.
7. Villa Hilton Gym — 7.0/10
Plot 70-73 Unit K, General Edet Akpan Ave, Uyo

This facility is directly opposite Monty Suites, so the two are natural comparisons. It has brown and white branding consistent with the hotel’s colors. Small space, solid air conditioning, light on weight-lifting equipment but strong on cardio. There are enough treadmills and bikes to cover your cardio days properly.
The main differentiator: gym membership includes pool access at no extra charge. Trainers are also included in the subscription fee without additional costs. For members who swim as part of their fitness routine, that pool inclusion changes the value calculation.
8. IronClad Fitness — 7.0/10
APAIU Hotel, No. 6 IBB Ave, Uyo 520102, Akwa Ibom
IronClad has personality: green aesthetics inside, plenty of motivational banners on the walls, and one that says “Shut Up and Squat,” which we appreciate for its economy of words. It’s a retro-leaning gym with sufficient weights.
The training environment may feel less polished than some other best gyms in Uyo on this list. However, IronClad has its own authentic gym culture. We believe this location has the kind of rough-around-the-edges energy that serious lifters sometimes prefer.
