iFitness Port Harcourt Gym Review 2026 (Trans Amadi)

I’ve been training at the iFitness Port Harcourt gym in Trans Amadi on and off for a while now, and I figured I’d write up an honest review since I couldn’t find one that actually gave specifics. This is my personal experience with what I found when I walked in and started working out.

The short version: iFitness PH is a solid gym with good equipment and a clean facility, but the trainer culture has some issues worth knowing about before you show up.

Where is iFitness in Port Harcourt?

iFitness Port Harcourt is located at 214 Ordinance Road, Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. It’s directly opposite the former corporate office of the Greater Port Harcourt Development Agency. When iFitness opened this branch in 2023, The Guardian described it as the brand’s largest fitness centre in the country at the time, and it’s easy to see why when you’re inside.

Trans Amadi itself is a mixed industrial and residential zone; it’s a proper neighbourhood, but not the kind that’s walkable from most parts of PH. If you’re coming from GRA, D-Line, Rumuola, or the island side, you’re most likely driving or taking a Bolt.

The parking situation is manageable because there’s decent space available. However, on busy days, especially peak hours, it fills up, and you might end up parking further out than you’d like.

My iFitness Port Harcourt Gym Review — Equipment and Facilities

As you’d expect from iFitness, the PH gym is genuinely well-equipped. When I walked in, it felt like a proper gym and not one of those places that stretched ₦3 million of used equipment across a room and called it a fitness centre.

I checked the dumbbells and can say that the range is solid. You’ll find what you need for most workouts, especially with the lower and mid-range weights well-stocked.

The only slight gap I noticed is at the heavier end. Some of the higher dumbbell sizes are limited. It’s not a dealbreaker because the equipment does get rotated and restocked. However, if you’re regularly lifting heavy, just be aware that there might be competition for those pieces during peak hours.

One standout feature for me is the separate cardio room with bikes away from the main weights floor. However, the treadmills and stair masters are in the general area. Nonetheless, the separation keeps both floors functional and less crowded.

At the iFitness Port Harcourt gym in Trans Amadi, the bathrooms, toilets, and changing rooms are neat. I’ve used enough Nigerian gyms where the bathroom is an afterthought to genuinely appreciate a clean one. This gets maintained properly.

AC is functional throughout, but I’ll be honest: it doesn’t reach everywhere evenly. It’s not terrible, but it’s worth knowing where to position yourself. The best spot, in my experience, is near the mirror at the extreme end with the standing AC unit.

The Trainer Situation — My Honest Experience

This is the part I want to be straightforward about because it affected my experience, and I think it’s fair to mention. I don’t always pay for a personal trainer at iFitness because I work out independently. Most of the time, that’s completely fine because I know what I’m doing and I don’t need constant guidance.

But there are moments when you want a quick question answered. And this is where I ran into something that bothered me. I was trying out one of the leg extension machines: a type I hadn’t seen before, different from the one I was used to.

I asked a trainer nearby to help me understand the setup. He glanced at me, then turned and went to attend to some girls who were around. When he eventually came back, the help was bare minimum. I explained that the machine felt different from what I was used to, and he basically said it’s the same thing and moved on.

That interaction stuck with me because it wasn’t necessary. A 30-second explanation would have done it. The attitude communicated clearly: if you’re not paying me, you’re not my priority. I understand that trainers work for tips and personal training fees — that’s the model. But the dismissiveness left a bad taste.

On the personal training fees, one trainer charged me ₦20,000 for a single session. That’s steep, especially compared to what independent trainers in PH charge. However, I believe paying for a month will be more reasonable in terms of total cost. If you’re planning to hire a trainer at iFitness in PH, factor that into your budget from the start.

Front Desk and Reception

The front desk staff, however, are a completely different story. I found them friendly and helpful, and on one occasion, I was even cracking jokes with the male receptionist. He made me buy alkaline water, preaching that it’s much better than regular table water.

My Pros and Cons of iFitness Port Harcourt Gym, Trans Amadi

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
•Separate cardio room keeps the main floor clear
•  Clean bathrooms, changing rooms and toilets
•  Good range of equipment and well-stocked dumbbells
•  Proper spacing so it doesn’t feel cramped
•  Front desk staff are consistently friendly
•  40+ group classes included in membership
•  Cross-branch access, so subscription works at all iFitness locations nationally
•  Some trainers are unhelpful if you haven’t paid for PT•  AC doesn’t reach every corner evenly
•  Parking fills up on busy days
•  Not very accessible by public transport (you need a car or Bolt)
•  Heavy dumbbell range is limited

How Much Is the iFitness Fee?

iFitness Port Harcourt membership pricing as of 2026:

Monthly Subscription₦42,875
Joining Fee (one-time)₦31,687 (discounted)
First Month TotalApprox. ₦74,562 (subscription + joining fee)
Annual Member Dues₦33,385 per year (charged separately, March–April)
Membership IncludesFull access + 40+ classes + cross-branch access nationwide
Subscription FreezeMinimum 5 days, maximum 20 days per request

One thing that catches people off guard is the Annual Member Dues of ₦33,385 charged separately from your monthly subscription. It’s debited directly from your registered card between March and April each year.

I’ve seen many people complaining about it online, but iFitness is upfront about the charge on their website. Many new members just don’t notice it until the charge hits, so budget for it.

Also worth knowing: the joining fee is discounted when you sign up online through the iFitness website versus walking in directly. You can check the official iFitness website for updates if the price changes in the future.

The New iFitness GRA Port Harcourt Branch

iFitness has opened a second Port Harcourt branch in GRA. I haven’t trained there extensively yet, so I won’t review it in detail here, but it’s worth knowing if GRA is closer to you than Trans Amadi. The Trans Amadi branch remains the original and larger of the two PH locations.

My Verdict on iFitness Port Harcourt Gym

I keep going back to iFitness Trans Amadi when I’m in Port Harcourt, so that says something. The equipment does the job, and the separate cardio room is something I genuinely appreciate every single time I use it. Also, the facility is clean enough that I don’t dread the bathroom after a workout.

That leg extension incident hasn’t fully left me, though. I’ve spoken to other members who train independently, and most of them haven’t had similar experiences. So, perhaps it was just a one-off, unlucky interaction for me.

Do I recommend iFitness Trans Amadi in Port Harcourt? Yes, provided you’re cool with the pros and cons I clearly stated. The place is indeed one of the best gyms you can get in the Garden City.
