Best 15 Gyms in Port Harcourt 2026: Reviewed and Ranked

PH is presently one of the strongest gym cities in Nigeria. The fitness market here is serious, with long-established names, newer chains, and community gyms in almost every neighborhood. So, no matter your location, there’s a gym close to you. We’ve pulled together the best 15 gyms in Port Harcourt, with real information on what each one offers and where it falls short.

1. iFitness — Trans Amadi (Ordinance Road)

iFitness Port Harcourt Gym

📍 214 Ordinance Road, Trans Amadi

iFitness Trans Amadi is the larger and more established of the two Port Harcourt branches. When it opened in 2023, it was described as iFitness’s biggest facility in Nigeria at the time. The equipment floor is spacious, there’s a separate dedicated cardio room, and 40+ group classes are included in every membership.

Furthermore, the facility is clean throughout with proper changing rooms, bathrooms, and mirrors. Based on our research, one area that draws mixed feedback is the floor trainers. Some members report a few unhelpful attitudes from trainers who haven’t been paid for PT.

The new GRA branch is now the fresher option of the two, but Trans Amadi remains the bigger and more renowned.

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
• Separate cardio room keeps floors uncrowded
• 40+ group classes included
• Clean changing rooms and bathrooms
• Spacious floor layout
• Front desk is friendly
• Some floor trainers unhelpful to non-PT members
• AC doesn’t reach all areas evenly
• Parking fills up on busy days

2. iFitness — GRA Port Harcourt

📍 No 6, Tombia Street, GRA Phase 2

Here’s the latest of iFitness’s two Port Harcourt locations. This GRA branch brings the full iFitness experience to one of the city’s most premium residential and commercial zones. Being newer, it has the advantage of more recent finishes, better-conditioned equipment, and a slightly more modern feel than Trans Amadi.

The full 40+ class timetable applies here, and membership gives access to both PH branches as well as all iFitness locations nationally. For GRA residents and workers who were previously making the trip to Trans Amadi, this branch removes that inconvenience completely.

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
• Brand new facility with everything fresh
• Full 40+ class timetable
• Cross-branch access, both PH locations and nationwide
• Prime GRA location for residents and professionals
• Cleaner and more modern finish than Trans Amadi
• Still building its community and class culture

3. Charlie’s Total Fitness Center

📍 Plot 56/57 Stadium Road, Rumuola

Charlie’s is an institution in Port Harcourt fitness. Located on Stadium Road in Rumuola, it has been part of the city’s gym culture for a long time. As such, most serious PH gym-goers have either trained here or at least know someone who has.

The setup covers everything that matters. We’re talking about strength training, aerobics, dance classes, functional workouts, indoor cycling, and nutrition consulting. From our findings, visitors often describe the place as energetic, and the community is one of the largest and most active of any gym in the city.

Charlie’s Total Fitness may not be the flashiest facility in PH, but the proven track record makes it one of the most reliable choices around.

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
• One of the most established gyms in PH
• Huge class variety: aerobics, dance, bodybuilding, cycling, nutrition
• Large, active community
• Expert guidance on nutrition and workout plans
• Positive, energetic atmosphere
• Facility is not the most modern
• Parking on Stadium Road can be tricky during peak hours

4. Body Boost Fitness and Health Club

📍 Deborah Lawson House, Plot F6, Abacha Road, GRA

We rank Body Boost as one of the more upmarket gyms in Port Harcourt. Located in GRA Phase 3 at the former UK Visa Office building on Abacha Road, it was launched with a purpose-built facility and professional medical knowledge underpinning the staff.

The team is trained across fitness, nutrition, and general health, not just exercise instruction. Body Boost serves both individual members and corporate clients, and the focus on professional wellbeing sets it apart from most Port Harcourt gyms.

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
• Purpose-built facility in GRA Phase 3
• Professionally trained staff with medical and nutrition knowledge
• Strong corporate wellness offering
• Spacious, well-finished environment
• Individual and group training options
• Premium location may mean more expensive pricing
• Not many class options

5. De Sculpture Gym

📍 77 Obiwali Road, Opposite Winners Chapel, Rumuigbo

De Sculpture has been running since 2017 and has built a genuine following in Rumuigbo. The gym covers weight loss, bodybuilding, yoga, aerobics, taekwondo, cardio, and personalized meal plans. In our opinion, that’s a wider range than most gyms of its size.

This facility operates seven days a week, which is worth noting for members who train on Sundays. The Facebook page has over 3,400 followers with regular engagement, which tells you something about the community it has built.

• Personalized meal plans available
• Active, loyal community
• Well-established in Rumuigbo since 2017

It covers aerobics, bodybuilding, group classes, indoor cycling, nutrition consulting, personal training, and personalized workout plans.

With opening hours from 6 am to 9 pm daily, BodyLab offers good flexibility around working schedules. TikTok content we came across from Port Harcourt gym enthusiasts mentions BodyLab at Iwofe specifically, suggesting it has a following among younger PH gym-goers.

• Beginner-friendly and welcoming atmosphere
• Wide class and service range
• Good opening hours from 6 am to 9 pm
• Personal training and nutrition consulting available

7. Go Wellness Resort

📍 23/25 Nembe Road, Rumuibekwe

At this facility, you get more than a gym. As the name says, Go Wellness Resort is not just a gym but a full wellness destination. The facility covers nutritional coaching, personalized training, aerobics classes, and aqua aerobics in their swimming pool. Plus, there’s massage and weight loss therapy.

The medical advisory board behind the wellness recommendations is a genuine differentiator. Health recommendations at Go Wellness Resort reflect actual scientific standards, not just fitness opinion.

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
• Full wellness setup, including gym, pool, massage, nutrition
• Aqua aerobics classes in the swimming pool
• Medical advisory board behind health recommendations
• Nutritional coaching alongside training
• Rumuibekwe location may not suit everyone’s commute
• Not a traditional gym-first setup — better for wellness-focused members

8. A La Bompa Gym and Fitness Center

📍 8 Parker Crescent, Obia Housing Estate

A La Bompa is one of the distinct gyms in Port Harcourt. Beyond standard gym and aerobics, it offers karate, ballet, boxing, kickboxing, and badminton. That makes it a genuine multi-discipline sports facility rather than just a weights and cardio room.

The Facebook page describes it as ‘a Gym Facility with Dancehalls for Aerobics, Karate and Ballet.’ Also, they’ve hosted group workout sessions for university alumni groups. We recommend A La Bompa for anyone who wants variety beyond standard gym training.

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
• Multi-discipline: karate, ballet, boxing, kickboxing, badminton
• Dance halls for aerobics
• Active community for PH
• Closes at 7:30 pm, earlier than most PH gyms

9. Neighborhood Gym

📍 No. 2 Alhaji Estate Road, Opposite Obio/Akpor Council, Rumuodumaya

At this spot, we have a community-minded gym in PH. Neighborhood Gym is all about fitness awareness, goal-setting, events, and empowering the Rumuodumaya society.

Based on our findings, the equipment range is comprehensive for a neighborhood gym. You get rowing machines, treadmills, free weights, and more. Classes cover spinning, yoga, CrossFit, kickboxing, swimming, and kids’ fitness programs.

• Qualified instructors for beginners
• Rumuodumaya location best for residents

10. MetroFlex Gym

📍 Ada House Plaza, Rumuosi, beside Mobil Filling Station, Rumuosi

MetroFlex operates in both Port Harcourt and Uyo and has built a solid reputation in both cities. The PH location carries the same brand values as the Uyo branch. As such, you get modern equipment, a strong coaching team, and an intentional gym culture.

We view MetroFlex as a gym that takes its environment seriously. That’s evident from the motivational wall art, good lighting, and a community that people describe as genuinely supportive.

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
• Solid brand reputation across PH and Uyo
• Modern equipment
• Strong, encouraging coaching culture
• Good gym atmosphere and motivational environment
• PH branch has a smaller profile than the Uyo branch currently

11. Lavista Gym

📍 136 Obiwali Ra, Opposite Hydropet Filling Station, Rumuigbo

Lavista isn’t widely popular, but it’s a notable gym option in Port Harcourt’s. We commend its black and white aesthetics, with proper lighting and weights. Notably, the gym opened in 2026, so it’s one of the newest in the city.

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
•  One of the latest gyms
• Functional, reliable training environment
• Neat environment and aesthetics
• Smaller online presence

12. MOE Fitness

📍 SARS Rd, Port Harcourt 500102

Coming up next is MOE Fitness, a Port Harcourt gym with a growing local following. The gym offers strength training and general fitness and has built up a community of regular members.

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
• Swimming pool access included
• Wide service range: yoga, kickboxing, kids fitness, aquatics
• Odili Road location well-positioned
• Hotel setting adds to the overall facility
• Some reviews flag hygiene and renovation needs
• Hotel gym environment not for everyone

14. TAFL Gym

📍 129, 132 Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout Rd

During our reviews, we noted that TAFL Gym has good reviews for two specific things: security and cleanliness. Not many gyms in Nigeria can say the same. Therefore, if you prioritize a safe, uncrowded, and well-maintained environment, you can consider this gym. TAFL gym doesn’t overload its floor with equipment, so there’s more space to move.

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
• Highly secure facility and environment
• Clean and well-maintained
• Not overcrowded
• Less widely known than the major PH gyms

15. SynerGym Fitness Centre

📍 9 Apara Link Road, by Y Junction, Rumuigbo

SynerGym describes itself as one of the fastest-growing fitness communities in Port Harcourt, and the setup backs that up. Located at Apara Link Road in Rumuigbo, it offers traditional gym facilities alongside a dedicated boxing gym.

The boxing setup brings a high-energy training option for members who want to mix strength work with combat conditioning. SynerGym’s Facebook page describes their mission as helping members ’10X their body fitness goals,’ which is a bold statement in our opinion.

✔  What Works✖  What to Know
• Dedicated boxing gym alongside standard gym floor
• Strong community with growing membership
• Group fitness and personalized plans available
• Newer and still building its full profile
• Apara Link Road location best for Rumuigbo residents

How to Choose the Right Gym in Port Harcourt

The best gym in Port Harcourt is the one you’ll actually go to consistently. In other words, location matters more than anything. We recommend selecting a facility within 15 minutes of your home or office.

Beyond location, check whether the facility has reliable power backup, clean changing rooms, and staff who take members seriously. Take advantage of day passes and free trials before committing to a monthly or annual plan.

⚠️  Always confirm current addresses, prices, and operating hours directly with each gym before visiting. Some details may have changed since this article was published.
