Best Gyms in Nigeria 2026: Updated Top 10 List

Nigeria’s gym and fitness community is at a different height in 2026. The previous year, 2025, data from Moniepoint POS terminals showed that we spent over ₦90 million daily at gyms. That’s about ₦32.8 billion in total, which is huge.

Over 1,300 gyms are active in Nigeria, spread across different parts of the country. I know you want to train at only quality locations, so I’ve rounded up the best gyms in Nigeria for 2026.

Although I went over facilities in various parts of the country, the truth is that most quality gyms are located in big cities like Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Ibadan. Without wasting time, check out the list below:

1. iFitness
 Gym

Source: Google Photos

Locations: Lagos | Abuja | Port Harcourt | Ibadan

I’ve trained at three iFitness branches (Port Harcourt, Yaba, and Lekki) and I’ve been there at different times of the day. My experience, in short, is that iFitness is genuinely the best gym chain in Nigeria right now.

Membership price currently ranges from around ₦31,000 to ₦64,000 per month based on location. Plus, there are annual dues of ₦33,385. These prices went up sharply in January 2026, increasing by between 70 and 90% across most branches.

Founded2015 — started as a 150 sqm space, now 30+ branches
CitiesLagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan
Monthly Fee₦31,875 – ₦64,325 (varies by branch)
Classes40+ free weekly group classes — Zumba, HIIT, spin, yoga
EquipmentModern cardio and strength machines, free weights section
ExtrasGym store, CCTV, cashless payments, locker rooms, showers

✔ What I Liked

  • The equipment is actually good: I came for weights, and I wasn’t disappointed. The free weights area is well-stocked, the machines are modern, and I didn’t run into the frustration of broken or missing equipment that you get at a lot of local gyms.
  • It’s clean and organised: The changing rooms were clean every time I used them. The gym floor was tidy, and the air conditioning was working. These feel like basic things, but they’re not always guaranteed in Nigeria, so I applaud them.
  • Everything is cashless and secure: Payments are digital, and there’s CCTV in most places. iFitness runs like a proper business, which I appreciate.
  • Group classes are included: As a member, you get over 40 free weekly classes: Zumba, spin, HIIT, yoga, and more. I didn’t use them much since I was there for weights, but the fact that they’re included in the membership without extra charges is cool.
  • The gym store is well stocked: You can buy workout gear, healthy drinks, and supplements on-site. It’s a small thing, but it’s convenient.

✖ What I Didn’t Like

  • The crowd is real: This is my biggest issue with iFitness because sometimes, the gym can be packed. During peak hours, you’ll be waiting for equipment while trying not to be in the videos of content creators.
  • Some trainers are nonchalant: Most iFitness staff are polite and professional, but I ran into some trainers who clearly weren’t paying attention.
  • The price hike is hard to ignore: iFitness was already on the higher end before January 2026. After the 70 to 90% price increase, it has become a serious consideration. You need to be honest about whether you can afford the monthly subscription long-term.
  • Experience varies by branch: I noticed differences between Port Harcourt, Yaba, and Lekki. Some branches feel more managed than others. The equipment quality, staff attentiveness, and crowd levels weren’t identical across all three. So, don’t assume the branch near you will be exactly like the one you toured first.

My Verdict on iFitness

iFitness is the closest thing Nigeria has to a reliable, consistent gym chain. I suggest it if you want good equipment, a clean space, and a structured environment to train in. There’s the crowd issue and the high pricing, but the overall standard is still ahead of most of the competition.

My honest advice is to go between 12 PM and 2 PM if you can. Also, visit the branch you’re targeting before signing up to see how the place is managed. And if you don’t want to spend too much on trainers, go with your own plan.

2. Bodyline Fitness

Source: Google Photos

Location: Lagos | Abuja

I visited the Abuja branch, and it’s one of the more complete gyms I’ve seen in Nigeria. Bodyline has been around since 2011, and they have two Abuja locations (Wuse 2 and Gwarinpa) plus a Lagos branch in Festac. From my experience, the Abuja branches are where the quality is best.

Bodyline Fitness is a big gym. The facility occupies a whole building in Abuja, which gives them room for both indoor and outdoor facilities. As for the membership price, it’s between ₦30,000 and ₦40,000.

LocationsWuse 2 & Gwarinpa, Abuja | Festac, Lagos
Monthly Fee₦30,000 – ₦40,000 (Abuja) — might vary in Lagos
FacilitiesIndoor gym, outdoor area, swimming pool, sauna, spa, restaurant & juice bar
ActivitiesWeights, cardio, dance classes, boxing, basketball, volleyball, tennis
PT Sessions₦10,000 – ₦20,000 per session (additional cost)
Peak Hours7 AM – 9 AM and 5 PM – 7 PM

✔ What I Liked

  • The place is large and well-equipped: You’ll find most of the equipment you need here. The gym floor is spacious, which makes a difference when the gym is busy.
  • The range of activities is impressive: Beyond the gym floor, there are dance classes, boxing, basketball, volleyball, and tennis. If you want more than just weights and cardio, Bodyline gives you options.
  • Spa, sauna, and swimming pool: These are included with membership, which makes the monthly fee feel more justified. Not many gyms in Nigeria offer this combination at this price point.
  • Results show: Multiple members mentioned visible changes within months of joining. That’s partly about consistency, but it also says something about the training environment.

✖ What I Didn’t Like

  • It can be crowded at peak hours: The gym can be packed. It’s a mainstream gym in the middle of the city, so that’s expected. But if that kind of crowd puts you off, go during off-peak hours.
  • Trainers on the floor can be limited: For a gym this size, some members felt there weren’t enough trainers visible on the floor at all times. You might need to seek one out rather than wait to be approached.
  • The Lagos branch doesn’t match Abuja: If you’re in Lagos, manage your expectations before visiting. The Abuja branches seem to have a higher standard overall.

My Verdict on Bodyline Fitness Gym

Bodyline Fitness is a solid gym with a lot going for it. I’m talking about the equipment, the space, the additional facilities like the pool and spa, and the variety of activities. If you can train during off-peak hours, it’s worth considering.

3. Beyond Fitness Gym

Source: Google Photos

Location: Lagos

I’ll be honest: I haven’t trained at Beyond Fitness myself. The pricing put me off before I even got to the door. But I’ve spoken to a few people who train there, and the picture they painted was hard to ignore.

Beyond Fitness operates on a quarterly and annual billing model. Quarterly plans run from ₦345,000 to ₦684,000, depending on how many sessions per month you want (8 to 24). The annual plan is ₦2.76 million. Although it’s one of the best gyms in Nigeria, that’s not a rate for the average person. But for the people who can afford it, they seem to get what they pay for.

LocationVictoria Island, Lagos
Pricing₦345,000 – ₦684,000/quarter | ₦2.76m/year
Sessions8x to 24x per month, depending on plan
ClassesGroup fitness (Lift, cardio sessions), swimming lessons
ExtrasSmoothie bar, fresh juices, wheelchair accessible entrance
Session LengthApprox. 45 minutes per class

✔ What People Said They Liked

  • The classes are intense and well-run: Everyone I spoke to mentioned this. Sessions start on schedule, the coaches are focused, and you’ll not spend your time standing around. One person told me their coach DJed through the entire session and kept the energy going from start to finish.
  • The environment is top class: At BeyondFitness, you get a clean facility, strong air conditioning, and a good ambience. One person said they trained hard on a rainy Saturday, and the gym had parking attendants directing cars and staff handing out umbrellas at the entrance. That kind of attention to detail isn’t common in Nigerian gyms.
  • The smoothie bar is a nice touch: Fresh juices and water are available after your session at a cost. Small thing, but it adds to the overall experience.
  • Wheelchair accessible: The entrance is wheelchair friendly, which is worth mentioning because it’s not something most gyms in Nigeria think about.

✖ What Could Be Better

  • The price shuts most people out: This is the only real complaint I came across, and it’s a big one. ₦345,000 per quarter for the entry plan works out to ₦115,000 per month. That’s completely out of reach for most Nigerians, regardless of how good the gym is.

My Verdict on Beyond Fitness Gym

Beyond Fitness is clearly doing things at a very high level. If money isn’t a barrier for you, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. But for the majority of people reading this, it’s a gym to admire from a distance. The standard is there, but the access isn’t.

4. Pure Fitness Africa Gym

Source: Instagram@purefitnessafrica

Location: Lagos

Pure Fitness Africa was founded by Ekemini Ekerette, popularly known as KemenFitness. He’s a Nigerian fitness coach and entrepreneur with a passion to make gym culture more accessible and affordable for everyday Nigerians. I visited the Ikota branch, which is one of their Lagos locations, and was formerly known as Fitness Central before the rebrand.

The pricing is one of the lowest I’ve seen for a gym of this quality. Monthly membership at Ikota starts from around ₦10,000, though this may have changed. Individual classes start at ₦10,000. Given the facilities and what’s on offer, that’s hard to argue with.

Founded ByEkemini Ekerette (KemenFitness)
LocationLagos (Ikota, Lekki Phase 1, and others)
Monthly FeeFrom approx. ₦10,000 (confirm current rates directly)
ClassesYoga, step aerobics, cycling, dance aerobics, and more
ExtrasMobile app, spinning studio, cardio floor, changing rooms with showers and lockers
Walk-insNot allowed — you need a member to vouch for you or pay a ₦4,000 guest fee

✔ What I Liked

  • The price is reasonable: For what you get inside, the monthly fee is fair. I’ve paid more at gyms that offered less. If you’re looking for value for money in Lagos, this is one of the better options.
  • The equipment is good, and the space is large: I had room to move. There’s a dedicated spinning studio, a cardio floor with treadmills, ellipticals, cycling and stepping machines, and a separate area for free weights. Everything was in working condition when I visited.
  • The group classes are worth it: The sessions are well-structured, and the instructors know what they’re doing. There’s variety too, including yoga, dance aerobics, step aerobics, and cycling.
  • Clean changing rooms with showers and lockers: If you’re going to the gym before work or heading somewhere after, this matters. The changing room at Ikota is functional and clean.

✖ What I Didn’t Like

  • The AC isn’t always reliable: This came up in my visit and in other reviews. The air conditioning isn’t consistent sometimes.
  • Classes may be limited depending on your schedule: One review I came across mentioned limited classes as a concern. I think this means the timetable may not have something available at every hour you’d want. Check the class schedule before signing up to make sure it fits how you train.

My Verdict on Pure Fitness Africa

I consider Pure Fitness Africa as one of the best value gyms in Lagos. The facilities are decent, the classes are good, and the price makes it easy to commit. If you’re around the Ikota or Lekki area, it’s worth checking out.

5. Ecofitness Hub

Source: Google Photos

Location: Lagos | Abuja

Ecofitness Hub was founded in 2021 by Lanre Akinmusire. The concept is built around eco-friendly fitness, and that’s why the equipment, design, and entire environment lean into a green aesthetic. You notice it when you walk in.

The Lagos branch is one of the more affordable options on the island. Day passes are ₦6,000, the monthly price is ₦40,000, and there’s a couple plan at ₦78,000 per month. For a Lekki gym, that pricing is hard to beat. There’s also an Abuja branch in Gwarinpa for people in the capital.

Founded2021 by Lanre Akinmusire
Lagos BranchBuena Vista Estate, Orchid Road, Lekki
Abuja BranchGwarinpa, FCT (Express branch: Plot 2425, Herbert Macaulay Way, Wuse Zone 4)
Day Pass₦6,000
Monthly₦40,000 (individual) | ₦78,000 (couple)
FacilitiesGym, swimming pool, basketball, lawn tennis, volleyball, football pitch, spa lounge, restaurant, café, karaoke pods
ClassesHIIT, strength training, cardio, group sessions, personal training

✔ What I Liked

  • The price is one of the best on the island: For Orchid Road, Lekki, ₦40,000 per month is affordable. You get access to a lot of facilities at that price, including the pool, courts, and a gym floor with plenty of equipment.
  • Lots of equipment. I haven’t had the problem of not finding what I need. The gym floor is well-stocked, and you can move between different pieces of equipment without much waiting.
  • It’s more than just a gym: Swimming pool, basketball, lawn tennis, volleyball, a football pitch, a spa lounge, restaurant, café, and karaoke pods. If you want to stay the whole day, you can.
  • You might run into a celebrity: This came up from other members, and I won’t lie, it happens. The gym attracts a certain crowd on the island.

 ✖ What I Didn’t Like

  • The music is loud: I know gyms usually play loud music, but the sound at Ecofitness Hub is at a different level. You won’t have any issues if you’re Gen Z, though.

My Verdict on Ecofitness Hub

In my experience, I’d say Ecofitness Hub gives you a lot for the money. The facilities are wide, the equipment is there, and the price is fair for its location. For Lekki residents who want a complete gym experience without paying premium prices, this is a strong option.

6. MetroFlex Gym

MetroFlex Gym
Source: Google Photos

Location: Port Harcourt | Uyo

I’ve been to MetroFlex in both Uyo and Port Harcourt. The Uyo branch is the original, and it’s right in the centre of the city, making it easy to find.

MetroFlex went through renovations in early 2026, and the upgrade shows. Membership per month is currently around ₦25,000, though the price may have gone up since the renovation. Daily passes and personal training sessions are also available.

Uyo Branch66 Enwe Street, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State
PH BranchRumuosi, Port Harcourt
Monthly FeeFrom ₦25,000 (confirm current rate — price increased post-renovation)
EquipmentTreadmills, dumbbells, Lat Pull, Pec Machine, Steer Master, and more
FacilitiesSpacious gym floor, AC, changing rooms, parking lot, hygienic restrooms
NoteNot wheelchair accessible as of last check

✔ What I Liked

  • The best gym in Uyo, and it’s not close: I’ve trained in other gyms in Uyo, and nothing compares to MetroFlex. The equipment is the most complete you’ll find in that city.
  • Spacious and well air-conditioned: The gym floor has enough room to move without feeling like you’re on top of someone else. The AC works, which matters in Uyo’s heat.
  • The trainers are helpful: The instructors pay attention to what you’re doing, correct your form, and push you when you need it. Multiple people who train there describe it as a family environment, and I understand why.
  • Clean facilities: The restrooms are hygienic, and the overall facility is kept in good condition. There’s also a parking lot, which is a plus.

✖ What to Know Before You Go

  • The location can be a problem depending on where you live: The Uyo branch is in the heart of the city, which is good for accessibility, but can mean traffic getting there, depending on where you’re coming from.
  • Port Harcourt branch is still newer: The Rumuosi branch in PH is newer and hasn’t built the same track record as Uyo yet. It has good equipment and a supportive community, though.

My Verdict on MetroFlex Gym

For me, MetroFlex is the gym to go to in Uyo. The price increase after the renovation is something to be aware of, but the upgrade justifies it. In Port Harcourt, the Rumuosi branch is worth checking out, too. As one of the best gyms in Nigeria, I believe MetroFlex will eventually expand to Lagos and Abuja.

7. SweatBox
 Lagos Gym

SweatBox
Source: Facebook

Location: Lagos

Before I went to SweatBox, the open gym setup with no full AC worried me a little. However, my worry was unnecessary, as the facility meets high expectations. SweatBox has large fans spread across the space, and there are sections with air conditioning. Once I started training, I honestly stopped thinking about it.

Monthly plans at this gym go from ₦163,900 to ₦272,910, with a quarterly option at ₦589,600. It’s not cheap, but I think the experience inside justifies a good part of that price.

LocationPlot 10, Block 113a Baderinwa Alabi St, Marwa, Lagos
Monthly₦163,900 – ₦272,910
Quarterly₦589,600
SetupBox gym — open space, fans + AC sections
ExtrasFree walk-in consultation, clean restrooms, and changing rooms
VibeFriendly, community-focused, very welcoming

✔ What I Liked

  • The open space is unique: I came in sceptical about the box gym setup. By my second visit, I didn’t even notice it anymore. The fans do the job, and the AC sections help. If anything, it made the gym feel less stuffy than a lot of fully enclosed gyms I’ve been to.
  • The people there are genuine: SweatBox calls itself a No Fake Zone, and I understood what they meant when I got there. The front desk was warm, the instructors paid attention, and members were helpful to each other. It has a community feeling that you don’t always get at some other bigger gyms.
  • Equipment is functional and well-kept: Everything I needed for weights and cardio at SweatBox was available and in good condition.
  • Free walk-in consultation: You can walk in to ask questions and see the facility before paying anything. I appreciate that kind of openness.

✖ What to Know Before You Go

  • The open gym design isn’t for everybody: I got used to it, but I know people who wouldn’t. If you need a fully enclosed, fully air-conditioned space to feel comfortable training, this might not be the right fit for you.
  • The price is high: ₦163,900 per month is a lot of money for most Nigerians. It’s the one thing that would stop me from making it my permanent gym.

My Verdict on SweatBox Gym

SweatBox surprised me. The open space setup that I thought would be a problem turned out to be one of the things that makes it different. If the price is within your budget, I’d say go for it.

8. EliteBox Fitness

Source: Google Photos

Location: Lagos

This gym sits directly opposite Eko Hotel, so it’s hard to miss. It’s Lagos’s first and only boutique boxing gym, and it’s been running for a good number of years now. I visited, and I’ll say it’s a very specific gym. If boxing is what you’re there for, you’ll enjoy it. However, if you’re looking for a general gym, this isn’t it.

Location1st Floor, Ibukun House, Adetokunbo Ademola St, VI (opposite Eko Hotel)
SpecialtyBoxing, self-defence, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Sundays)
Who It’s ForBeginners, white-collar boxers, competitive boxers, kids
EquipmentHeavy bags, speed balls, medicine balls, boxing gear
ExtrasBoxing gear and wear available on-site, Saturday sparring sessions

✔ What I Liked

  • The trainers are good at what they do: The coaches here will work you hard. One person I know described them as looking like murderers when they’re drilling you. That’s not far off, but they know exactly what they’re doing. The quality of instruction is high.
  • It’s clean: Every time I visited, the gym was clean. The environment is well-maintained, and the staff are polite. No complaints on that front.
  • It covers all levels: Whether you’re just starting out, doing it for fitness, or actually pursuing boxing competitively, EliteBox has a place for you. They also take kids, which not many Lagos gyms do for boxing specifically.
  • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on Sundays: They added BJJ on Sundays, which is nice for people who want a combat sport beyond boxing.

✖ What I Didn’t Like

  • It’s boxing-focused: This is not necessarily a bad thing, but if you want general gym training, this place may not work. It’s built around boxing, and that’s what it does.

My Verdict on EliteBox Gym

If boxing is something you’re serious about, EliteBox is the best place in Lagos for it. The coaches are very good, the environment is clean, and the Saturday sparring sessions make it worth considering. Just know what you’re signing up for.

9. Fitness Factory

Source: Google Photos

Location: Lagos

This is one of those gyms that does more than just fitness. I visited the Fitness Factory Lagos branch, and it’s set up like a full lifestyle hub. You get a gym, classes, café, spa, sauna, and an in-house barbershop, all under one roof.

The gym floor itself is over 700 square metres, meaning there’s enough space to move around. I’ll say upfront that it’s not cheap because the monthly membership is ₦75,000. That puts it in the premium category. There’s also a Fitness Factory in Enugu, but based on what I could find, they’re not affiliated with the Lagos one.

LocationVictoria Island, Lagos
Monthly₦75,000
Gym Space700+ square metres
EquipmentPremium Hammer Strength and Life Fitness machines
ClassesHIIT, strength training, cardio, group sessions, personal training
ExtrasCafé (Toasties), spa, sauna, showers, locker rooms, in-house barbershop (Rebound Salon), manicure services

✔ What I Liked

  • The equipment is premium: Hammer Strength and Life Fitness machines are at the higher end of gym equipment. You can feel the difference when you use them.
  • It’s not overcrowded: The space is large enough that even on a busy day, you’re not waiting around for machines.
  • The extras are genuinely useful: The café, barbershop, spa, and sauna aren’t just for show. If I’m going to spend time at a gym, being able to eat something decent, get a haircut, or use the sauna afterwards in the same place is a real convenience.
  • Certified instructors for classes and personal training: The coaching is structured, and the trainers know what they’re doing. You can sign up for group classes or one-on-one sessions.

 ✖ What I Didn’t Like

The price is high: ₦75,000 per month is a lot. It’s a premium gym,m and it’s priced accordingly.

My Verdict on Fitness Factory

I consider Fitness Factory a well-run gym with good equipment and a range of services that go beyond what most gyms offer. The price is the main thing that will stop people. If you can afford it and you’ll actually use the full facility, it’s worth it.

10. Lyft Gym

Source: Google Photos

Location: Kano

You’ll find Lyft Gym inside the Grand Central Hotel on Bompai Road, Kano. It’s a big gym, the kind that feels like a warehouse when you walk in. That’s not me complaining. There’s a long row of treadmills and bikes on one side and weights and machines on the other. For a city like Kano, where serious gym options are limited, Lyft stands out clearly.

The price per month for Lyft Gym is ₦70,000, with a day pass at ₦5,000. For Kano, that’s expensive. Most gyms in the city charge between ₦5,000 and ₦20,000 per month. But the standard here is different, and the pricing reflects that. Take Lyft to Lagos, and it’d still be one of the best gyms in Nigeria.

Location1 Bompai Road, Grand Central Hotel, Kano
Day Pass₦5,000
Monthly₦70,000
Pool Access₦15,000 (separate)
ClassesPump & Lift, HIIT Blast, Boxing Fit, group sessions
FacilitiesCardio floor, weights section, machines, swimming pool, and changing rooms

✔ What I Liked

  • The size of the gym is impressive: It’s a warehouse-style setup with enough room for cardio on one side and weights and machines on the other.
  • Cardio equipment is well-stocked. There are many treadmills and bikes available. If cardio or weight loss is your main goal, Lyft has more than enough equipment to support that consistently.
  • Good class options. Pump & Lift, HIIT Blast, and Boxing Fit are structured classes that go beyond the basics. If you want something more than just showing up and lifting on your own, the class schedule gives you options.
  • The best gym in Kano: When you compare it to what else is available in the city, Lyft is clearly a step above.

 ✖ What I Didn’t Like

  • The price is high for Kano: ₦70,000 per month is a big number in a city where most gyms charge a fraction of that. It’s not overpriced for what you get, but it does put it out of reach for a lot of people.

My Verdict on Lyft Gym

Lyft Gym is the best option in Kano, and it’s not close. The space is large, the equipment is good, and the classes add structure to your training. Price is the only real barrier, but I don’t think you’ll find a better gym in the north.

Tell Us About Your Best Gym in Nigeria

Top 10 Gyms in Nigeria

The gyms listed on this page are the top ones you’ll find anywhere in Nigeria. You’ll have access to most of them in Lagos and Abuja. Meanwhile, others are located in Port Harcourt, Uyo, Ibadan, and Kano. No single brand covers the entire country, and to be honest, I wasn’t expecting any to.
